I’ve been reading a fascinating borrowed book called ‘Her Master’s Voice – The life of Betty McKeever’ by Anne Edgar. It tells of the ladys life in Hernhill from 1901 to 1990. Betty was a relative of the Dawes family and quite a character, she ran her own pack of Beagles and a farm at Waterham. Her life was and is part of the fabric of this Parish and reading the book I have had a wonderful insight into life here through the 20th Century. It also gives an account of the highwayman Godfrey who gives his name to Godfrey’s Grave which I have typed up here.
