Hi Hernhill website! I lived in Hernhill for 26 years up until I was married (St. Michael’s) in 1982. I was in the brownies, guides, choir and just about everything that was going in the early years 60s – 70s! I only live just down the road in Boughton now and am still in the choir. I joined in 1967 (Rev. Eric Streatfield-James’s days) and have (off and on) been there ever since!
I think the website is just great – and would like to say how wonderful the village looks in the front photograph.
I would like to find out more about the choir in it’s” pre-me ” days as I have never seen any pictures or text relating to this and there are precious few photo’s I believe of the choir, even when I was a child. If anyone knows anything?…
Finally for this first message of mine I would like to say how impressed I was with the “Old Music Hall” that was put on in July by Jane Foreman and Joy Pritchard. I can’t believe the amount of work that went into making that a success and I salute them and their family and friends for such a great event. Jane and I went to Hernhill school together so have known her for ** years! But that’s another story …..!
Thanks for the lovely comments on the site Julie.
The Old Time Music Hall was indeed excellent – I’m hoping to get the photos from the official photographer soon – will put them up here when that happens.
Hi again – shall be going to both events and really looking forward to both! I’ve seen the Snowdown choir when they sang at Archbishop’s school a few years ago – they will make the hairs on the back of your head stand on end!!
Get a ticket(s) if you haven’t already done so – you will kick yourself if you miss either!
I very much enjoyed playing at the church last night. What a beautiful and unspoilt village you have! It was difficult to find, but well worth the treasure hunt. I hope you invite us again next year. Here’s wishing you luck with your continued fund raising for the church. Heading back to Thanet, I got home (eventually) and at one point found myself in Seasalter!
Very best wishes.
