Hernhill News June 2016 edition HERE
The DCA are pleased to announce that the tennis court/football pitch at Hernhill Playing Fields has now been improved with an up to date all-purpose surface. This has replaced the old tarmac surface which had become old and dangerous and in desperate need of repair.
This improved facility has been possible by a combination of a grant from Viridor and the contributions of local people by way of supporting DCA activities. At present we are awaiting the final application of sand, which is needed for the playing of tennis. Currently the facility is perfect for football and even basketball, but for tennis, the bounce is still a little unpredictable.
The price of hire is £2.50 per hour for DCA members and £3.50 for non-members. Yearly season tickets are also available for £60 to DCA members only and allows unlimited bookings.
Access will be way of a coded padlock, with the code being given by email when booking is confirmed.
In the next few months we will be installing lighting to the court, to enable it to be used longer in the evenings.
Please take the opportunity to use and enjoy this court.

All the fun of the Fete is happening from 2pm Saturday the 7th May at the Playing Fields in Hernhill. We look forward to the sun shining on our sweet little corner of the world.
The freshly resurfaced Tennis Court will have a grand opening at the Fete. The DCA have worked very hard to get this wonderful resource back into play for the community and it does look fabulous
A day to celebrate and remember Paula Kay whilst raising as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.
Sadly, Paula lost her courageous three year battle with cancer in January 2015. In her memory, her family are hosting a charity dayto raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK in the hope that one day a cure will be found.
The day is kicking off with a team of nearly 70 women and children boarding a double decker bus to take part in the Herne Bay Race for Life at 11am.
We will then be hosting the ‘AFTER PARTY’ at Bessborough Farm (ME13 9JG) from 3pm with a BBQ, live music from local band Coco, facepainting, a raffle and Ice Creams from Faversham Ices with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
We invite all those who knew Paula, are friends of team and anyone who is simply inspired by Paula’s story to join us to celebrate an unforgettable lady
Please bring whatever you fancy to drink and plenty of money which we will be unashamedly relieving you of for this great cause. So we have some idea of numbers please text 07709 651339

Have you recently acquired a young black cat?
I have a one year old male black cat who unusually went missing over the August bank holiday weekend. Unbelievably he returned on Thursday 22nd October as if nothing had happened! He had obviously been well looked after as he had grown a lot and was in good condition. However, he only stayed two weeks and vanished again on Monday 9th November! He is completely black, not neutered, very chatty and answers to the name of Billy. If he has turned up on your doorstep please let me know! Thanks.
